Sweet 16
The Sweet 16 is a new program we are offering and it’s the first of its kind in the area. The program will run for 30 weeks, twice a week and be limited to only 16 skaters. The primary focus of the program will be individual development. We will focus on skating mechanics (power turns, inside/outside edge, first 3 steps, stride efficiency, balance, agility, pivoting, crossovers, cutting, etc), puck handling techniques (quick dribbles, wide dribble, toe drags, deking, puck protection, battle drills, etc) , passing technique (forehand, backhand, motion, saucer, chip pass, area passing, finesse, etc), shooting form (wrist shots, slap shots, snap shots, one-timers, backhands, quick release, etc) and body checking (checking, stick influence, angling, etc). The end of the session we will run a short 3x3 scrimmage to evaluate what has been taught & learned throughout the session. It will give us an indication on each player’s progress. The purpose is to continually progress and to work on more complex drills as the year goes on.

Early Bird Hockey
Early Bird Hockey is a before school skill session for only 4 skaters with sessions lasting 12 weeks. We have had a good deal of demand over the recent past for this so we are excited to be offering it. Our focus will be skating, edge work, stride efficiency, shooting, puck handling, passing, etc. This program is designed to do work in small numbers and have an intense skate.

Walk-On Skills Sessions
Walk-on skills are a great way to access skill development and has been great for those who attend. It’s on a first come first serve basis. The focus is skill development that includes skating (forward & backwards), stride work, edge work, explosiveness, turning, passing, shooting, proper technique and puck handling. It’s a great supplement to whatever you play in the fall, winter & spring. Our instructors demonstrate so the player can see proper technique, then through repetition and correction we see progress in the players.

Private Lesson Groups
One of our most popular and successful programs over the years, the Private Lesson Groups, are a great way to get maximize small group instruction. The groups are limited to up to only 10 skaters with the focus being intense skill development that includes skating (forward & backwards), stride work, edge work, explosiveness, turning, passing, shooting, proper technique and puck handling. The small group size allows us to break the player down and build them back up. It’s a great program and we see a great deal of progression in the player over the course of the instruction.

8 Week Development Camp - On-Ice & Off-Ice, Boch Ice Center, Dedham Massachusetts
Lovell’s Hockey is excited to be offering the very popular 8 Week Development Camp again this summer but with a twist. The Camp will be all inclusive consisting of 2 hours of on-ice development followed by a 1.5 hour strength & conditioning session. The strength & conditioning program will be located upstairs in our newly built and state of the art gym right there in the rink. We are excited to add this to our camp and have the players have easy access to a top notch facility. Having both on-ice & off-ice program will expose the player to a complete professional hockey specific training program.

Note: The off-ice strength and conditioning program is part of the 8 week development camp in Dedham only. If interested in doing the on-ice in Hingham (below) and the off-ice in Dedham, please contact us.

The on-ice development will focus mainly on skating mechanics, first 3 steps/explosiveness, proper stride, inside & outside edges, turning/cutting, pivoting, crossovers, over-speed, stick handling, deking, proper shooting technique, all facets of passing, 1x1 2x1 2x2 3x2 3x3, puck protection, and small area games. We will also teach defensive zone coverage, proper positioning on the ice and the general knowledge associated with playing the game. The off -ice training will consist of a combination of weight training, plyometrics, stretching, shooting, stick handling and other drills that will supplement your on-ice development. The combination of both training regiments is to develop the complete player.

We eventually will rearrange the groups buy age, ability and talent. To make it the best possible experience for every player we sometimes need to move the player to a session that best fits his/her needs. This allows us to work on what the group and players need at the different levels. The goal is to pair the players up to maximize the development for everyone. We will evaluate the players after the first couple of days and notify the player & parent of the change that may need to be made.

8 Week Development Camp - On-Ice, Pilgrim Skating Arena, Hingham Massachusetts
Lovell's Hockey is excited to be offering the very popular 8 Week Development Camp again this summer. The two hour/day on-ice development will focus mainly on skating mechanics, first 3 steps/explosiveness, proper stride, inside & outside edges, turning/cutting, pivoting, crossovers, over-speed, stick handling, deking, proper shooting technique, all facets of passing, 1x1 2x1 2x2 3x2 3x3, puck protection, and small area games. We will also teach defensive zone coverage, proper positioning on the ice and the general knowledge associated with playing the game. It has been a terrific program for us and the players and we are excited to be offering it again!

“20’s” Program
The "20's" program is a brand new concept in the area and we are excited to be offering it! There is only going to be a 20 player limit over the extensive two week camp. There will be 5 instructors on ice making the instructor to player ratio 1:4. That ratio allows the camp to focus on the player on a semi-private basis. This is a spin-off of our very popular Sweet 16 program that we have run in the fall, winter & spring this year. The low player to instructor ratio really allows the instructors to break down the player and build them back up over the course of the session. Each instructor will focus on a different skill set and at the end of each day there will be some type of game so we can monitor the progress of the entire camp and more importantly the individual player. This camp will be on the big sheet, allowing for proper space so we can work with the groups the way we have planned.
